Can i use serum instead of moisturizer

This is awesome thank you for all the info I realize that serums work better for me as well specially because I have dry skin.. This is super informative, so thank you!

I love you much education and research you put behind your products. Thanks again. When I read your post i insatantly wanna dive into those products. Would love to try my hands on Estee Lauder and clinique one. Thanks for the update and benefits of serum vs moisturiser.

It should be talked about more. Thank you for this blog, I will definitely be purchasing a serum to replace my cream, especially for my night routine! Sona I just started using serums so this is such a great post! PS love the bangs. Also I recommend checking out the ordinary as a good cost effective skincare routine. I absolutely love their products! Love this! I use the Boscia Tsubaki beauty oil every day and mix it with my foundation and love it.

Thanks for all the information and your recommendations! Thank you Sona! I definitely need to start using serums. I look forward to your updated skincare routine. I love serums and as much as hydrating they can be, I still put on moisturizer as I have combination skin, and depending on the weather, I tend to get super dry or super oily. I love the Drunk elephant vit c serum during the day which can only be used every 72 hours because it remains active and unwashable for that long, which saves you money in the long run.

I use the Tatcha essence at night. Great post! And thank you for posting it? Love it currently using bare minerals skinlingevity serum at night before bed and moisturizer in the morning. Too soon to tell but I like how light is it so far. It depends on what type of skin you have. I love skincare post!! And even more this one cause you give the importance than he deserve to serum!!! And thank you Sona for your work really informative and detailed???

I need to try a serum, I am 59 and for some reason lately my skin has gotten so blotchy, dark spots, acne , dull looking.

Thanks for the great post I def will try these out because I want that young looking face again lol!! My skin recently change from normal to oily and now I breakout a lot. There are so many serums for people with oily or acne prone skin! Thank you for sharing sona this has been helpfull now that I recently turned 30? I normally used Josie M. Hehe, love this post!

I definitely agree with you about the serum. Personally, I think they are better than moisturizers since they feel lightweight and easily absorbed by the skin! Great article as always! Great timing since I am still in the search of the perfect serum for my skin. Thank you. I would ditch any mediocre moisturizer for a high performing serum that works well for my skin any day! Thanks for sharing this with us! I actually have been struggling on finding a good moisturizer.

I use one and I think its good then after a period of time I get texture or I break out a lot. HI GIO! What brand of serum and moisturizing is better for NOT to clog pores, creating hard whiteheads? You can use them both for cleansing and moisturising. I have never use serum and would like to start. I do moisturize, your reply would be helpful. Thank you in advance. I use at night only. At am i still use moisturiser hehe. For me, since i use mosturizer it was much better.

I hav some stains in my skin due to past acne and these products work so much better with that. Also i think that if you have oily skin as me , you have to use mosturizer. At least in my experience mosturizer improving a lot my sebum production. So i do not recommend not use mosturizer at alla. Earlier I used only moisturizer, acne appeared. Then I switched to serum, still pimples appear.

If I skip both, skin looks dull. Plus sunscreen is something I have to avoid because of the oily skin it leaves afterwards. HA is a humectant, which means it draws water to the skin and helps to protect from water loss. There are other humectants, such as sodium PCA, which you also produce naturally. The other kind of moisturizers you might find are occlusives and emollients.

An occlusive forms a physical barrier, no matter how imperceptible, over your skin like an oil or a silicone , while an emollient is actually more of a skin-softener than a skin hydrator. Face creams can be any mixture of these things, though more commonly humectants and occlusives. Rather than getting caught in this pore-clogging cycle, hyaluronic acid provides some instant relief but also helps bind more water in the skin. Both Kerr and Dr. Jack explained. Your skin needs to shed every day, so exfoliation — both natural and the kind you do with a little glycolic acid toner on a cotton ball — is integral.

Moisturizing is a crucial part of skin care. Keep in mind that your skin has a very important job to do- it protects the entire body. Moisturizers work to protect our skin from the elements while adding moisture.
