It is unlikely. Even if you have all 4 characters using the half inch ability. Which is what i do when im farming items that i want need to be stolen. It still takes a few rounds generally. And in the time it takes to steal 1 items i can make it to shogun. So i dont see the benefit of method number 2. Unless you are hoping to be lucky. Stealing items is a guarantee because neither of these enemies run away.
It's stealing the correct item that isn't a guarantee. The only con with Ragged Reaper is that the Linen Gloves are common steals. Pink Pearl is less common than Linen Gloves. These are low level enemies, if you have all of your Deftness boosts, then it should take you on average, 1 round to steal from Goodybags and Ragged Reapers, 2 rounds if you are unlucky. The average for Cosmic Chimaera is about 2 rounds because they are higher level enemies. You can even speed up the process by running away once you get your steals.
I didn't run away in my test run, so the time should improve. You really should test this out and see for yourself because your hypothesis is wrong. You should try out both methods for about an hour each and compare your results. You might be pleasantly surprised!
Just don't bother with Method 3. The return on investment is really bad. I'm fairly sure Evencloth is more common than Linen Gloves, though neither item is what I'd call "rare. It is. More common than the Pink Pearl drop for Goodybags, at least from my experience. With a good grotto located near the quest site Method 1 is better. It all depends on what maps you have. Sorry i didnt mean that you are not guaranteed to get an item from the mob, what i meant was the attempt isnt a guarantee.
So probability means you will sometimes spend several rounds to get a single item. And others on the very first try. But still it all comes down to luck and what kind of maps you have. If you have a map thats close to a city and has 4 or 5 floors to get to shogun. Then method 1 would be your best bet. Or if you only have him in a remote place with floors and you suck at dodging mobs it might not be as good.
