Why is duluth called the emerald city

The family is in my prayers. May God surround you with comfort during this difficult time. I am sorry for your loss and will keep the family in my prayers Annie was very sweet and even though I never had the pleasure of meeting her in person I enjoyed working with her at United Healthcare she was always willing to lend a helping hand to me and I'm forever grateful for it.

Annie was a wonderful person and always so quick to help anyone who seeked her advice. She would drop whatever she was doing to help out.

She helped me out of many issues, and never seemed put out while doing it. I called her my life saver. I am very sad she is gone, but I take comfort in knowing that she is finally able to rest with out any discomfort or worries. My condolences to her family. There are so much a person could say about my grandma she was an a amazing person. She was every loving to everyone.

Words can't even explain how I feel right now. I just have to remind myself your in a better place and your not in pain any more.. I hope you found grandpa ok and someday we well all be together again.

I love you so much grandma and well miss you.. I had lunch with Ann many times when she worked in the office at UHC.

Part of my father's family resided for some time in Renton. If the sign had been at a liquor store Speaking of Starfire shirts , this sign was the basis of a Father Hennepin T-shirt, modeled here by Starfire in I took these photos at Grandma's Grand Avenue Cafe, where the sign on the right hung.

Thanks for digging up the photo. I never would have guessed that pickerel ad had connections to some more recent Duluth cultural history. That fish and font are certainly not the most obvious Duluth references and it looks like a visual joke that took some work to pull off. I like that this post allowed for a moment to appreciate that effort 15 years later.
