This rum is sharp, pungent, and generally unpleasant to sip - however, when mixed with enough chaser to forget you're drinking Fernandes, not wholly impotable.
It does it poorly, mind you, but it does do it, and many a drinker is quite happy with the result after 4 or 5 drinks. Notes of tobacco, gasoline but in a good way! It almost has the appearance and flavor of a cheap and I mean cheap whisky. Is there a burn? Of course there's a burn, one characteristic of chest thumping and reaching for a bottle of water to wash down the, admittedly, gliding liquor on the tongue.
Overall, it is consumable in a bind a very tight bind , but not easily, so it get a strong 4, but not really a 5. I would say do not buy this to sip, but I actually enjoy sipping the elephant's foot Santa Teresa, so there are masochists out there, but if you prefer anything middle shelf and above, I would only buy this to mix.

But its not as bas as others make it out to be. Its still has a caramel sweet taste that is not too overbearing, it has a burn at the end nut that too is not that great.
After reading reviews I was expecting a terrible buring harsh rum, but for a very affordable golden rum, its not that bad.

Finished with s good amount of alcohol burn. A good rum for mixing and ok with some ice to drink straight up in a pinch.
